Author Spotlight #1 | Rainbow Rowell.

I first discovered Rainbow Rowell after joining the Bookstagram community in July 2015 (@Bookish_Grl) and seeing her name and pictures of her books all over social media, Eleanor & Park and Fangirl being the most talked about and loved. So of course I placed an Amazon order full of all her books, hoping I would love them too.
Since I read those first two, particularly Eleanor & Park (my absolute favourite R.R book) I have bought all of her books so far and I love them. As soon as I hear she is releasing new writing, I instantly go onto Amazon and pre-order. The only book of hers that I haven't read yet is Landline, which I will definitely be getting to in the New Year. I thought I would give you a little rundown on all her books, the star rating I gave them and a little synopsis.

Fangirl//3 Stars.
"Cath and Wren are identical twins, and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they're off to university and Wren's decided she doesn't want to be one half of a pair any more - she wants to dance, meet boys, go to parties and let loose. It's not so easy for Cath. She's horribly shy and has always buried herself in the fan fiction she writes, where she always knows exactly what to say and can write a romance far more intense than anything she's experienced in real life.
Without Wren Cath is completely on her own and totally outside her comfort zone. She's got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words . . . And she can't stop worrying about her dad, who's loving and fragile and has never really been alone.
Now Cath has to decide whether she's ready to open her heart to new people and new experiences, and she's realizing that there's more to learn about love than she ever thought possible..."
Now I did really enjoy Fangirl, I just didn't seem to love it as much as everyone else does. I really don't see where the hype came from.
Eleanor & Park//5 Stars.
"Eleanor is the new girl in town, and she's never felt more alone. All mismatched clothes, mad red hair and chaotic home life, she couldn't stick out more if she tried. Then she takes the seat on the bus next to Park. Quiet, careful and - in Eleanor's eyes - impossibly cool, Park's worked out that flying under the radar is the best way to get by.
Slowly, steadily, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mix tapes, Eleanor and Park fall in love. They fall in love the way you do the first time, when you're 16, and you have nothing and everything to lose. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, Eleanor & Park is funny, sad, shocking and true - an exquisite nostalgia trip for anyone who has never forgotten their first love."
Oh god..this book..broke me! In a good way of course. I completely fell in love with the characters and their relationship. It is one of the easiest 5 star reviews I have ever given!
Attachments//4 Stars.
"It's 1999 and for the staff of one newspaper office, the internet is still a novelty. By day, two young women, Beth and Jennifer, spend their hours emailing each other, discussing in hilarious detail every aspect of their lives, from love troubles to family dramas. And by night, Lincoln, a shy, lonely IT guy spends his hours reading every exchange. At first their emails offer a welcome diversion, but as Lincoln unwittingly becomes drawn into their lives, the more he reads, the more he finds himself falling for one of them. By the time Lincoln realizes just how head-over-heels he really is, it's way too late to introduce himself. What would he say to her? 'Hi, I'm the guy who reads your e-mails - and also, I think I love you'.
After a series of close encounters, Lincoln decides it's time to muster the courage to follow his heart, and find out whether there really is such a thing as love before first-sight."

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was hilarious and so heart-warming, the perfect read.

Carry On//3.5 Stars.

"Simon Snow just wants to relax and savour his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he'll be safe. Simon can't even enjoy the fact that his room-mate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can't stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you're the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savour anything."

The best part of this book for me was the relationship between Simon & Baz..oh god..I loved it! Baz is definitely one of my favourite R.R characters!

Kindred Spirits//4 Stars.

"If you broke Elena's heart, Star Wars would spill out. So when she decides to queue outside her local cinema to see the new movie, she's expecting a celebration with crowds of people who love Han, Luke and Leia just as much as she does.
What she's not expecting is to be last in a line of only three people; to have to pee into a collectible Star Wars soda cup behind a dumpster or to meet that unlikely someone who just might truly understand the way she feels."
It is like this book was written for me! I am a huge Star Wars fan and as soon as I read the synopsis, I knew I had to own it. I LOVED it. The only thing that really disappoints me, is the length of it!!! If you are reading this Rainbow, which I highly, highly doubt..please write a full length book for Kindred Spirits. You would be making me & many other people incredibly happy!

I'd love to know who your auto-buy authors are, and what your favourite book is by them?
